4/17/24-Wed. - National Noetic Math Competition - registered 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders

We’re excited for the Noetic Math Contest next week! Thanks for registering your child to participate in this math enrichment opportunity.

The contest will take place in the Reach room #111 on Wednesday, April 17th during your student’s math block. Students will be given 45 minutes to complete 20 math questions. The only item they need is a pencil and a curious mind!

Your child can continue to practice problem solving by turning in and receiving new Noetic packets up until Tuesday, April 16th.  I’ve seen great problem solving on the packets submitted so far!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Best,

Sharon Gecsey

2nd Annual Edison Science Fair – Friday, April 19th

Join us, Friday, April 19, 6:30 - 8:00 PM for our second annual Science Night featuring a Mad Science “Fire and Ice” presentation and a Science Fair showcasing research projects, experiments, and demonstrations from our Edison students.

The evening will begin with the Science Fair! The Edison students will have 30 minutes to display their Science Fair projects and share their findings or research with their fellow students. The Science Fair is an excellent opportunity for our students to explore topics of interest, learn more about the scientific method and present their findings with fellow students on Science Night. All Edison students, grades K-5, are eligible and students are allowed to collaborate on exhibits with as many as 4 students in a group. The PTA will provide a display poster board for every participating student.

After the fair, join us for a Mad Science “Fire and Ice” show! Mad Science is back this year with an action-packed 60-minute show guaranteed to entertain and educate your students. Students may attend the Mad Science show even if they do not plan to participate in the Science Fair.

There is no specific theme, so students are encouraged to follow their curiosity and choose a topic or category they like. Students can display results from an experiment at home, share interesting facts and pictures from a research topic or bring something hands on for other students to explore (ex. rock collection, seashells). Here are some ideas on suggested topics and format: Science Project Tips and Topics

Other links are included below for project inspiration. Mrs. Greska will also have a collection of science project books on display in the library for overnight check-out if your student would like to browse for additional ideas.

Our hugely popular Elevate an Educator campaign is back!

Since 2020, Foundation 205 has delivered over 4,100 gift cards to our D205 Educators and invested more than $81,000 back into Elmhurst businesses - we hope to keep that momentum going this year!

Beginning today and running through April 5th, you can purchase an Elevate an Educator gift for staff throughout District 205. This unique partnership provides families with a way to recognize educators and staff members who have made a difference for their student(s) with a gift card from a local business and a personal note of gratitude. Each purchase is $25 and includes a $20 gift card from a participating business of your choice and a $5 donation to Foundation 205. Our volunteers will deliver each award along with your personal message during the first week of May for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Make Your Purchases Here!

We're incredibly grateful to partner with the following businesses
