Bobcats, put your paws to the pavement and get your steps! Today is Walk-to School Wednesday! Even though Wednesdays are remote-learning days, let's keep the connection to our Edison community strong by walking or rolling to school during the e-learning breaks, after school, or after dinner. We will be having monthly theme days as an incentive to keep Edison school as your fitness destination. Next Wednesday, September 30, is "The Slumber Lumber." Lift your sleep mask, grab your bathrobe, coffee or OJ, and saunter to school in your pajamas. Hopefully, you will see some fellow Bobcats along the route. Don't forget to take photos and submit them to the yearbook via email or post them on the *all new* Facebook Group. Want to help with Walk-to-School Wednesdays? Contact Mary Bis or Gwen Reedy.
JOIN THE EDISON PTA
What do Battle of the Books, Amazing Race Bobcat Style, Geotrekkers and One School, One Story have in common? They are created and facilitated by our wonderful and creative librarian, Mrs. Greska; and they are PTA sponsored and funded! Help keep these programs along with many others running by joining the Edison PTA. Historically, 80+ percent of Edison families join the Edison PTA. Please help keep the trend going by joining HERE. Your Edison PTA is committed to continuing to provide as many enrichment programs and activities as possible this school year. PTA membership also provides access to the online school directory, DirectorySpot, which includes contact information for all Edison students, class lists, and the school calendar. Questions? Contact Nikki Dolvig or Heather Giambrone.
PTA COMMITTEE SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN
The Edison PTA is excited about the upcoming programs planned for the 2020-2021 school year. We especially hope to bring students together for enrichment and community building during the winter months when there is less opportunity to be outside. Therefore, we are seeking volunteers to begin planning now! Please look over the Sign-Up Genius to find an event or volunteer opportunity that interests you. Thank you for your support of the Edison PTA, we cannot accomplish all that we do without your help! Questions? Contact Nikki Dolvig or Heather Giambrone.
We specifically need help with the following programs:
- Bobcat Book Club (Jan/Feb 2021) - Lead book discussions and group activities remotely for 30 minutes per week for 3-4 weeks after school. Leaders are needed at each grade level.
- Chess Club (Dec 2020-Feb 2021) - Organize remote Chess Club using the leadership of a hired Chess Master. Chess knowledge is not required.
- Winter Warrior Mathletes (Winter 2020-2021) - Help foster curiosity, camaraderie and a growing math community by meeting with a student group for 30 minutes per week for 3-4 weeks after school. Lead math games and/or prepare for a local or national math competition. Two leaders needed at each grade level and math expertise is not required. :)
The 2020-2021 Edison directory has been published! If you are a current PTA member, you received an email (check your junk folder too!) from DirectorySpot with login instructions.
