Walk and Roll to School Day:

The City of Elmhurst Walk And Rollers aims to educate our community on pedestrian safety and has invited all District 205 schools to participate in the biannual Walk Bike and Roll to school day on WednesdayOctober 9, 2024. To support the initiative, the Edison PTA is encouraging all who are able to walk or bike to school that day!

News from the Edison Library!
We are bringing back the Two Sentence Scary Story Contest!  The Edison Library offered this contest for the first time in 2023 and it unveiled so much SPOOKY SCARY creativity from students, parents and Edison Staff, we must offer it again in 2024.

You may have heard your 2nd-5th grader talking about our Two-Sentence Scary Story Writing Contest!  After seeing examples in library class, they are excited to be scary using only TWO sentences!  Based on our 2023 contest, we also KNOW we have A LOT of spooky-scary-story-writing Edison PARENTS so we look forward to entries from them as well!  Your children REALLY want you to participate!  (Some even want Moms and Dads to EACH write and submit a two-sentence scary story!)  The deadline for all entries is Friday, October 25th (day before Boo Bash)!  One entry per Edison parent or 2nd-5th grade student!  All entries can be emailed to Mrs. Greska (mgreska@elmhurst205.org), dropped off in the Office, or sent to school with your student (make sure the true author's name is on it!)  REMEMBER:  Only TWO sentences!  Oh... there will be very valuable (?) prizes!

Calling All Artists: Reflections Program Open for Entries

Did you know October is National Arts and Humanities Month? This national celebration aims to recognize the importance that the arts have in building a creative culture in our country. If you believe in the importance of the arts, this is a great time to talk to your children about it by encouraging them to participate in Reflections, the national PTA arts program that encourages kids to get creative! Your children are invited to create a piece of artwork in one of six categories that reflects this year's theme, "Accepting Imperfection”. The categories include dance choreography, film production, visual arts, literature (story or poems), music, and photography. Encourage your student artists to get creative, and be proud of their talents! Entrees are due by Wednesday, November 6th, in the school office. For more information and entry guidelines, visit the PTA Council website https://www.elmhurst205.org/page/pta-council
