LAST CALL: Student Registration and Volunteer Sign-up

Get ready for a night of science, fun, and hands-on discovery at Edison’s Science Olympiad on Friday, March 21st, from 6:30–8:00 PM!

Students will be assigned to groups of 3-5 grade-level peers and rotate through three exciting experiments. The event is free, but registration is required.

March 12th is the LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER!

Register your student here!

We Need More Volunteers!

  • Room Leaders – Help lead one of the simple, grade-level experiments, all of which are already planned. Each experiment is repeated three times for different teams. No science background is needed to volunteer!

  • Team Leaders – Guide a small group of students through the event and assist with experiments. We will pair team leaders with their student. Many teams in the past have picked themes and matching outfits, and some even met for a pre-event dinner.

  • Set-up or Clean-up – These are distinct roles. Help us set up, clean up, or both!

Sign up to volunteer here!

Questions?  Reach out to Amanda Fisher (fisher.amanda.m@gmail.com), Shannon Isherwood (shannonebrady@gmail.com), Vicki James (Victorialwjames@gmail.com) or Angeliki Schoina (angelsch4@gmail.com).

Garage Party SOLD OUT!:

The Garage Party Buy-In Party is SOLD OUT! While there are no more tickets available (seriously), there will be more opportunities to gather (may we recommend the Pickleball Buy-In in April?) - and we are always open to more parties...any one interested in hosting - reach out to Noelle Bauer.

Two more days for Bobcats to be GIVING BACK!
Thank you to all of the families who have already contributed book donations! As part of Mr. Pluskota's Farewell Tour, we are continuing with Bobcat's Giving Back, one of his favorite Edison traditions. Supporting the greater community in various ways since 2010, Bobcats Giving Back allows students to feel empowered while supporting a greater cause. This year, we are proud to support his love of literacy for all children. Join us in supporting Bernie's Book Bank, an organization committed to providing books directly to the home libraries of children in need. We will be collecting NEW and used books in GREAT condition for ages birth through 6th grade. Collection will take place at Edison between March 3-March 14, 2025. This is an optional activity. If your child chooses to participate, please bring your book donations to school during these dates. Bins for donations are located in the front foyer.  When students donate, they are eligible to enter a drawing for a special mystery reader to join their class! Click here for a brief video overview of the organization.

Edison School is inviting 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students with an interest in problem-solving to participate in the Noetic Math Contest, a National Competition. Let Foundation 205 help you celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week!

Beginning Monday March 10th and running through Friday April 11th, you can purchase an Elevate an Educator gift for staff throughout the district! This unique partnership provides families with a way to recognize educators and staff members who have made a difference for their student(s) with a gift card from a local business and a personal note of gratitude.

Each gift is $25 and includes a $20 gift card from a participating business of your choice and a $5 donation to Foundation 205. Our volunteers will deliver each gift, along with your personal message, during the first week of May for Teacher Appreciation Week. Since 2021, Foundation 205 has delivered over 3,600 gift cards to our D205 Educators and invested more than $73,000 back into Elmhurst businesses - we hope to keep that momentum going this year!

Sneaker Drive:

Got any old or non-fitting sneakers to pass on? Drop them off at Edison to be sent to Gotsneakers and turn your sneakers into cash for the PTA!

Gotsneakers’ mission is to partner with the sneaker community to recycle and reuse quality pre-loved sneakers. Our sneaker drive fundraiser keeps sneakers out of landfills and reduces toxic chemicals from being released in our air and soil. All reusable sneakers are recirculated to secondhand markets so people can access quality, pre-owned footwear at affordable prices. All heavily used and damaged footwear is recycled to reuse materials or to convert waste into new energy.

SNEAKERS ONLY! Drop off adult or children’s sneakers to the bin in the main office anytime or send them to school with your child. Questions? Reach out to Becky Gee - rebeccagee12@gmail.com

Lego Club:

It's nearly Spring cleaning time...and Mr. Richey is looking to help clear out your homes! For those who don't know, this year he started the Edison Lego Club with 5th graders; students draw themes each week and build accordingly. Teachers vote on the builds and at the end of each session, the winning group receives an Edison Lego Club 3D printed trophy (and street cred, obv)! He's hoping to expand the program to more students and to help make this happen - is looking to add more Legos to the inventory. Donations can be in the form of discarded sets, or just the stash of free bricks you have in bins (or more honestly, strewn across the floor) - just drop them by the front desk with a note. Feel free to reach out to Mr. Richey with questions.

5Essentials Survey

The State of Illinois is currently conducting the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, and we need your input! This survey provides valuable insights into our school community, and when at least 20% of our parents/guardians participate, we gain access to important feedback that helps us improve and grow.

We kindly ask you to take a few moments to complete the survey for each of your students. Simply click the link below, select “DuPage,” and search for our school to begin.

Your voice matters, and we truly appreciate your time and support in making our school the best it can be!
